7 Celebratory Events for a Festive Fall in Toronto

 

As the leaves turn red and gold, the people of Toronto put on their fall sweaters and head outside to enjoy the many fall events. You might have thought the festivities would slow down after summer, but the fall is still full of endless options for exciting celebrations. You will not have time for everything, so browse the list below to decide which events are worth a visit.

TIFF: Toronto International Film Festival

When: September 8th – 18th

What: At TIFF, one of the largest film festivals in the world, you can watch almost 400 different films, attend lectures, workshops, and meet some world-renowned filmmakers. The festival includes movies from across the globe, allowing you to discover foreign language films with English subtitles, enjoy local indie flicks, or see the latest Hollywood phenomenon that is generating Oscar buzz.

 

Ontario Culture Days Festival

When: September 23rd – October 16th

What: During this celebration of arts and culture, you can attend free participatory events all over the city, such as comedy performances, art lessons, toy building workshops, and many other unique events for people of all ages.

 

Toronto Oktoberfest

When: To be announced

What: Back for the first time since Covid hit Canada in 2020, Oktoberfest celebrates Bavarian culture with jumbo pretzels, German sausages, butter tarts, and other delicious treats. There will also be dance contests, a strongman contest, and musicians. Find more info here.

 

Nuit Blanche Toronto

When: October 1st

What: Nuit Blanche is an all-night art festival that fills Toronto’s streets with art installations such as murals, light displays, sculptures, projected films, and more. Check out their Instagram for examples of the creative and outrageous art displays from past festivals.

 

Toronto Chocolate Festival

When: October 1st

What: A celebration of everyone’s favourite sweet, this festival includes chocolate and drink pairings, chocolate tasting, a chocolate tour, and more. The festival also takes place at the Eglinton Grand, a 10-minute walk from Fleming College Toronto’s Eglinton campus. For more info, click here.

 

Halloween on Church

When: October 31st.

What: During this event, the Church Wesley Village in downtown Toronto transforms into a spooky street party on Halloween. Thousands of people dress up in scary and creative costumes and visit shops, pubs, and Halloween displays. It is worth attending simply to see the wide variety of amazing costumes. Cavalcade of Lights

When: November 26th

What: This Toronto tradition kicks off the festive season with sparkling lights, fireworks, a light show, and live music. Visit here for more info.
