- Lifestyle
No other city in Canada has as many summer activities and events as Toronto. Here, you can treat yourself to beaches, great views, walkable streets, amusement parks, and more. The list below compiles local favourites for an unforgettable experience.
Visit Toronto Island
Toronto Island has beaches, bike paths, restaurants, watersports, and more, all covered in greenery and with a view of Lake Ontario. Summer is the best time to visit this nature escape that is only a 15-minute ferry ride from Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, between Bay Street and Yonge Street. On the weekend in the evenings, the island transforms into Electric Island and hosts a series of electronic concerts.
Enjoy the View at The CN Tower
With the clear skies and bright sun, summer is the perfect time to enjoy the view from CN Tower, which once held the record for being the tallest free-standing structure in the world. If you feel brave, try the thrilling Edge Walk, the world’s highest hands-free walk.
Explore Midtown’s Most Walkable Streets
As mentioned in our previous post, midtown Toronto has some wonderful streets filled with cafes, restaurants, and shops, all perfect for a sunny afternoon stroll.
Celebrate Canada Day
On July 1st, Toronto’s streets fill with festivities and the skies fill with fireworks. Downtown Toronto closes many roads to traffic, so celebrators can enjoy food trucks, live music, and pop-up shops.
Get Your Thrills at Canada’s Wonderland
As the largest theme park in Canada, Canada’s Wonderland has 17 roller coasters, a waterpark, and other thrill rides for people of all ages. The park also has live shows and eateries for when you need a break from all the excitement.
Savour the Flavour at Tastes of Little Italy
Stretching from Shaw Street to Bathurst Street, Little Italy is a wonderful place to walk at any time during the summer, but from June 17th to 19th, the streets fill with performers, outdoor games, and sellers of gelato, pizza, Italian cheeses, sausages, drinks, and espresso.
